Abstract
Phagocytic responses by effector cells to antibody and/or complement opsonised viruses have been recognised to play a key role in anti-viral immunity. In this study of 62 acute and convalescent patients, we found that an early phagocytic response significantly correlated with anti-Spike IgG titres.

Mr Anurag Adhikari Anurag Adhikari is currently working on the functional aspect of human adaptive immunity. He studies the polyclonal antibody effector functions to understand the protective and non-protective role of humoral immunity in viral infection. To better study this antibody-based immunity in hepatitis C virus and SARS-CoV-2 infection, he has developed an assay to measure the antibody-dependent cellular phagocytosis function, the induction of which correlates with the emergence of neutralising antibodies in these infections. |
