Dr Joyce Sauk

Joyce Sauk graduated with a MBBS degree at the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) in 2004 and completed a Masters in International Public Health (MIPH) from University of News South Wales (UNSW) in 2016. In 2018, Joyce was awarded a Prestigious UNSW Scientia Scholarship, under PHIRG- Kirby Institute, where she is currently looking at the performance, integration and implementation of X-pert Point of Care HPV testing as a tool for early cervical cancer screening for HIV positive women in Papua New Guinea. Joyce has worked with the National Department of Health - NCD Health Services, Papua New Guinea for over 10 years with her last post as the Coordinator of District Health Services where she provided administration, clinical and public health services. In her early medical career, she provided sexual and reproductive clinical care and trainings to High risk and marginalised/vulnerable populations which included clinical research under an ADRA funding with PNGIMR, QU and UNSW Kirby Institute between 2009-2012. Joyce continues to provide training and technical input in issues around Sexual and Reproductive health all over PNG. She is a keen community volunteer and actively advocates for issues around TB and Diabetes affecting PNG in local and international forums.
