Abstract
Progress in reducing the global malaria burden has largely stalled since 2015. Highly effective malaria vaccines are urgently needed but have proved very challenging to achieve. Recent insights from studies of naturally-acquired immunity and analysis of malaria vaccine trials are revealing promising and novel strategies to achieve malaria vaccine goals.
