Kirby Institute Seminar Series presents

Professor Basil Donovan

Professor Basil Donovan

Head of the Sexual Health Program, Kirby Institute, UNSW Sydney

About your speaker

Professor Basil Donovan's research and policy interests include clinical and public health aspects of sexually transmissible infections; particularly for priority populations such as gay men, youth, sex workers, Indigenous people, prisoners, juvenile offenders, and travellers. Since 2016, he has been working with the Australian Embassy on sexual health issues in Mongolia.

Abstract

Mongolia is a large land-locked country with a sparse population. It has the highest rate of cervical cancer in its region, and distance creates particular problems for health care delivery. This talk describes the efforts to implement HPV vaccination nationally and to deliver services to sex workers in the Gobi desert.
