"HIV/AIDS and TB epidemic and Control in Wuxi, China"

Summary of Talk:
Wuxi is located in Jiangsu Province in eastern China. It has a population of over 7 million. Its per capita GDP in 2013 was around USD 20,000, ranking 5th in China. In recent years Wuxi CDC has been investing heavily in its research capacity. They will have collaboration in HIV/STI prevention and control with Kirby Institute from 2016. In Wuxi, as of November 2015, over 2300 people were diagnosed with HIV. MSM has become the group most affected by HIV with a prevalence of 12% according to sentinel surveillance. Men older than 60 years and young male college students are vulnerable for HIV infection in recent years. In 2014, the prevalence of TB declined from 57 to 49 per 100,000 persons, representing a 13% decrease from 2008. Most of the reported cases were young adults but old people were also affected. The number of cases among individuals aged between 15 and 54 accounted for 69% of the total number of cases. In reported TB cases 2012-2014, 0.7% had multidrug resistance, which is defined as resistance to at least Isoniazid and Rifampin.
