"HIV in culturally and linguistically diverse populations - what do we know and where do we need to go?"

Abstract:
People from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds form a significant proportion of HIV notifications in Australia,  but continue to pose challenges for the effective targeting of HIV programs. This talk will present results from a survey of over 1400 CALD community members in NSW, and discuss ways forward in improving HIV surveillance, prevention, early diagnosis and treatment for these groups.

Bio:
Praveena Gunaratnam is a Research Officer with the Public Health Interventions Research Group and the Surveillance, Evaluation and Research Program. Prior to joining the Kirby Insitute, she worked for 13 years across numerous areas of public health and health policy for state, national and international organisations.
