Associate Lecturer at the Kirby Institute and the Centre for Social Research in Health, UNSW Sydney Alison Marshall completed her PhD studies with the Viral Hepatitis Clinical Research Program at the Kirby Institute in 2018 and is currently an Associate Lecturer at the Kirby Institute and the Centre for Social Research in Health, partly funded through a Fellowship from the Canadian Institutes for Health Research program, The Canadian Network on Hepatitis C. |
The Kirby Institute Postgraduate Student Prize is an annual award given to the most significant first author paper by a Kirby Institute student, published in the previous calendar year in a peer-reviewed journal in the area of infectious diseases.
Dr Marshall will be presenting her paper "Restrictions for reimbursement of interferon-free direct acting antiviral drugs for hepatitis C infection in Europe".
Abstract
All-oral direct-acting antiviral drugs (DAAs) for hepatitis C virus, which have response rates of 95% or more, represent a major clinical advance. However, the high list price of DAAs has led many governments to restrict their reimbursement. This seminar will present on restrictions to DAA access in Europe with specific implications for people who inject drugs.
