28 July marks World Hepatitis Day each year, bringing the world together to raise awareness of the global burden of viral hepatitis and to influence real change.
This year, World Hepatitis Day’s theme is “It’s time for action”, a reminder there are only six more years to achieve WHO viral hepatitis 2030 targets. This session will introduce the upcoming Hepatitis C Elimination in NSW: Monitoring and Evaluation Report. An overview of the achievements related to hepatitis C elimination targets in NSW will be provided, along with a discussion on the challenges that still need to be overcome.

Greg Dore He has been involved in viral hepatitis and HIV epidemiological and clinical research, clinical care and public health policy for 20 years. He has developed extensive national and international collaborations, and is internationally recognised in the areas of hepatitis C virus (HCV) natural history and epidemiology, therapeutic strategies for acute and chronic HCV infection, particularly among people who inject drugs, and HCV elimination strategies. | |
Colette McGrath Colette McGrath has been a part of NSW Health since 1996, contributing her expertise and experience to the organisation for many years. In 2016, she joined Justice Health NSW, marking her involvement in this specialised sector. | |
Dr Kerry Chant Kerry Chant AO PSM is a public health physician who has been the chief health officer of New South Wales, Australia, since 2008. She gained prominence during the COVID-19 pandemic providing regular public health advice for New South Wales, a contribution for which she was named the state's Woman of the Year in March 2021.

Steven Drew Steven Drew has held a number of senior appointments throughout his career. These include ten years as CEO of the Pharmaceutical Society of NSW and of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia Limited (NSW Branch), working in the NSW Attorney’s General Department as Director of Crime Prevention, working with cabinet ministers and as a non-executive director on a number of Boards. Steven has been the CEO of Hepatitis NSW since 2019.. |
