About your speakers
Dr Tanya Applegate leads the Hepatitis C research laboratory team within the Viral Hepatitis Clinical Research Program. The lab team is responsible for managing all clinical samples from VHCRP-driven clinical trials and cohorts and also facilitates all translational research conducted on these samples, including original research within the lab. Tanya has a strong interest in HCV translational research, including clinical virology, molecular epidemiology and HCV diagnostics to improve HCV health care among marginalised populations and those living in lower and middle-income countries.
Dr Marianne Martinello completed advanced training in infectious diseases in 2014, following which she commenced her PhD at the Kirby Institute. She also works at St Vincent’s Hospital as the Viral Hepatitis Research Fellow.
Dr Jason Grebely's training and research is based in the field of epidemiology, with a specific focus on clinical epidemiology. Jason has a BSc in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and a PhD in Pharmacology and Therapeutics, both from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. He completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Clinical Epidemiology at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, under the supervision of Gregory Dore, where he now remains as a Senior Lecturer. Jason is also a National Health and Medical Research Council Career Development Fellow.
Abstract
The annual EASL International Liver Meeting brings together over 10,000 people to discuss the latest advances in clinical practice and research. This seminar will discuss key themes from research presented in Amsterdam, including advances in HCV diagnosis and implementation, the global and local scale up of DAA treatment among key populations, and DAA treatment among people with recent injecting drug use.
