Kirby Institute Seminar Series presents

Dr Vincent Pedergnana

Dr Vincent Pedergnana
French National Centre for Scientific Research (Centre national de la recherche scientifique, CNRS) Researcher, University of Montpellier

I am interested in exploring how genomics can help us understand why pathogens cause human diseases. Over the last decade, I studied different viral infections, using the whole panel of genetic epidemiology tools. More recently, I developed a method simultaneously testing the host and the pathogen genomes.

Abstract

Genome-wide association studies led to major advances in identifying variants associated with infectious disease susceptibility. As host and pathogen variants jointly determine disease outcomes, the most recent development explores simultaneously host and pathogen genomes. I will detail the first wave of studies on HIV and hepatitis C in this emerging field.
