Dr Rama Kandasamy

Staff Specialist Paediatrician, Sydney Children’s Hospital; NHMRC Emerging Leader Fellow and Conjoint Lecturer, UNSW Sydney

Dr Rama Kandasamy is a Staff Specialist Paediatrician at Sydney Children’s Hospital, newly awarded NHMRC Emerging Leader Fellow and Conjoint Lecturer at UNSW. Dr Kandasamy’s research interests are infectious diseases in children and the use of vaccines to prevent them, with a focus on childhood pneumonia.

Abstract

There is increasing evidence that genetic factors play a role in susceptibility and outcome of childhood infection and that this information can be used to intelligently develop clinical interventions.
