Kirby Institute Seminar Series presents

Dr Katharine Bar

Dr Katharine Bar
Assistant Professor of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania and Director of the Virus and Reservoirs Core, Penn Center for AIDS Research, USA

Katharine Bar is a physician-scientist and clinical trialist who studies the transmission, pathogenesis, and persistence of HIV-1 and other viral pathogens. She currently has two central interests, (i) the viral dynamics and host immune responses during treatment interruption and (ii) developing NHP models that faithfully recapitulate HIV-1 pathogenesis and latency.

Abstract

Dr Bar will discuss recent findings from her work characterising the viral and immune dynamics of rebound from treatment interruption in human clinical trials and non-human primate models of HIV persistence.
