About your speaker
Dr. Christopher Pilcher is Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, where he is part of the Division of HIV, Infectious Diseases and Global Medicine. Research interests include acute HIV infection, novel applications of HIV diagnostics and antiretroviral treatment strategies.
Abstract
In this talk, Dr. Pilcher will outline recent data emphasising the importance of early treatment initiation, both to maximise the benefits of ART for patients and to reduce HIV transmission in communities; and discuss emerging data in both diagnostics and treatment practices that could make scale up highly feasible.
