Dr Angie Pinto is an infectious diseases physician and clinical microbiologist. She graduated from the University of New South Wales and later returned to commence her PhD at the Kirby Institute examining aspects of primary HIV infection in NSW.

Abstract

The goal of the virtual elimination of HIV transmission by 2020 in NSW is approaching. Early treatment and prevention strategies are implemented, yet new diagnoses continue. This talk will discuss early treatment in primary HIV, drug resistance surveillance and the role of molecular epidemiology in understanding where new infections come from.
