The Kirby Institute’s Professor Raina MacIntyre, head of the Biosecurity Program, has been added to Clarivate’s Highly Cited Researcher (HCR) list in the Cross-Field category, positioning her within the top 1% in the world in her field.
Clarivate’s annual list recognises and celebrates researchers who have highly cited papers and citations and who have significant influence in their area of research. The selection process draws on data from a citation index, which is then further refined using qualitative analysis by experts at the Institute for Scientific Information, Clarivate’s research arm.
According to Clarivate, of the world’s population of scientists and social scientists, Highly Cited Researchers are 1 in 1,000, and “contribute disproportionately to extending the frontiers of knowledge and gaining for society innovations that make the world healthier, more sustainable and more secure”.
“This is an outstanding achievement and I extend my warmest congratulations and appreciation for Professor MacIntyre’s important work,” says director of the Kirby Institute, Scientia Professor Anthony Kelleher. “Gaining a spot on the Highly Cited Researcher list highlights her world-leading expertise and impact within her fields, which I am positive will continue on a successful trajectory.”
Professor MacIntyre had highly cited papers in the fields of immunology, clinical medicine, biology and biochemistry, environment/ecology, and social sciences that contributed to her inclusion in the 2024 list.
