Abstract

Innovations in genomic technology and diagnostics are resulting in paradigm shifts in the way infectious diseases are detected. This talk will provide some key examples of how new technologies are being applied in the Australian setting.

A clinician-scientist with leadership roles in clinical and public health microbiology and virology, Professor Williamson is Director of the Victorian Infectious Diseases Reference Laboratory and Professor of Public Health Microbiology at the Doherty Institute, University of Melbourne.
