Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science
Master’s Degree in Computer Science with specialization in Bioinformatics
Simone Rizzetto obtained his Master's and Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from University of Trento (Italy) and part of his Master’s degree was completed at the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. During his studies he focused on the field of bioinformatics with more emphasis on biological systems simulations. Soon after he obtained a research position at the Microsoft Research - University of Trento Centre for Computational and Systems Biology (Cosbi). In his time at Cosbi he mostly worked on the identification of protein complexes, developing a software for the prediction of protein complexes, how they change in tissue-specific conditions and how these can be altered by drugs. In 2015, Simone was awarded with a UIPA and a SoMS Academic Excellence scholarship to started a Ph.D. in pathology at UNSW. The aim of his project is to identify the mechanism that drives T cell differentiation through single cell technologies and he recently developed a new bioinformatic framework to link transcriptomic, clonotype and phenotype at single cell level.
